Das Projekt Latin Jazz Experience wurde 2008 aus einer Idee des kolumbianischen (italienischer Herkunft) Pianisten und Komponisten Hamlet Fiorilli gegründet. Er beschließt, seine eigene Band zu gründen, inspiriert von Bands wie Afromantra, Sammy Figueroa’s Latin Jazz Explosion, Nueva Manteca und anderen.

2009 veröffentlichte er sein erstes Album (alle Originalkompositionen) unter dem österreichischen Plattenlabel FREIAUDIO RECORDS mit dem Titel „Descarumbiando“. Das Album hatte international großen Erfolg und wurde von Kritikern weltweit geschätzt. Die Band wurden vom American Latin Beat Magazine positiv bewertet und im selben Jahr von den Anhängern der American Latin Jazz Corner einstimmig als „2009 Next Generation Artist“ ausgezeichnet.

2013 veröffentlichte Hamlet sein zweites Originalalbum „Pa’Lante…Siguiendo El Camino“ auf demselben Plattenlabel. Auc dieses Album wurde von internationalen Kritikern gut aufgenommen.

In letzter Zeit verändert sich die Musik, die er schreibt, ebenso wie die Geräusche, die er um sich herum wahrnimmt. So macht das Treffen mit dem Brasilianer Luis André Carneiro de Oliveira (Schlagzeug) und dem Österreicher Wolfram Derschmidt (Bass) diese Veränderungen zu einem echten Projekt, so kommt das Hamlet & His Latin Jazz Experience als Trio zum Vorschein.

Neue Melodien, neue Energie mit einem intimeren Sound geben der Gruppe eine besondere Note und eine neue Richtung. Alle Kompositionen sind nach wie vor Hamlet-Originale. Das Repertoire durchläuft Rhythmen zwischen Folklore und Tradition Südamerikas (hauptsächlich Kolumbien, Brasilien und Kuba) mit einer persönlichen Perspektive, die aus einer Mischung aus energischen Rhythmen und inspirierten Melodien besteht.

Sie haben gerade die Aufnahmen zu ihrem neuesten Album SUSURROS abgeschlossen, das dritte Album unter dem Namen als Hamlet & His Latin Jazz Experience und das erste als Trio-Projekt. Das Endergebnis ist eine angenehme, nachdenkliche und eindrucksvolle Musik, die gleichzeitig lebendig und energisch ist. Das neue Album wird im Sommer 2022 unter dem gleichen Labek FREIAUDIO RECORDS erscheinen.

Acht Melodien, größtenteils in den letzten zwei Jahren geschrieben, inspirierten Stücke mit Geschichten und Anekdoten. Zum Beispiel wurde die Melodie „DOGE“ direkt am Tag geschrieben, nachdem sie einen Dokumentarfilm über den italienischen klassischen Komponisten Giacomo Puccini gesehen hatte.

„SUAVE CUCHICHEO“, es bedeutet süßes Flüstern, erzählt von Hamlets Gefühl gegenüber seinem fernen Land (Kolumbien), das er in Form eines Flüsterns an sein Ohr kommen hört. „SOKRATES“, Hamlet hat diesen brasilianischen Fußballer immer besonders bewundert. Nicht nur wegen seiner sportlichen Qualitäten, sondern auch wegen seiner menschlichen. Es gibt zwei weitere „dedizierte“ Stücke auf dem Album, „PASEANDO CON BILL“, eine Hommage an den großen amerikanischen Pianisten Bill Evans, und „HEY BRO!“, geschrieben vor etwa 30 Jahren für seinen Bruder, den Bassisten Victor Fiorilli, inspiriert von einer melodischen Phrase von Victor Bailey, Victors (Bruder) Lieblingsbassist zu dieser Zeit.

„CHORITO“ ist eine eher klassische Melodie, die Hamlet schon lange im Kopf herumschwirrt, bis sie schließlich in einem Rhythmus und Arrangement wie dem brasilianischen Choro endet. „CON CARINHO“ am Anfang war es eine Liebesballade, die dann in einer Mischung aus Afoxé, Samba und Songo in ihre aktuelle Uptempo-Form überführt wurde. „VIEJO ROMANCE“, die Idee war, ein Stück für eine klassische Geigerin, eine kubanische Freundin, zu schreiben. In ihrem Kopf entstand das Bild einer Liebesgeschichte, die im Kuba des 19. Jahrhunderts spielt.

The Latin Jazz Experience project was founded in 2008 from an idea of the Colombian (Italian origin) pianist and composer Hamlet Fiorilli. He decides to form his own band being inspired by bands as Afromantra, Sammy Figueroa’s Latin Jazz Explosion, Nueva Manteca and others.

In 2009 he released his first album (all original compositions) under the Austrian record label FREIAUDIO RECORDS entitled “Descarumbiando”, the album met a large mainstream success internationally, as well as appreciated by critics worldwide. They have been positively reviewed by the American Latin Beat Magazine and in the same year they are awarded unanimously by the American Latin Jazz Corner followers as a ’’2009 Next Generation Artist’,.

In 2013 Hamlet released his second album of originals “Pa’Lante…Siguiendo El Camino” under the same record label. This album was also well received by international critics.
Recently the music he writes is changing as well as the sounds he perceives around are changing. This is how the meeting with the Brazilian Luis André Carneiro de Oliveira (drums) and the Austrian Wolfram Derschmidt (bass) makes these changes a real project, in this way the Hamlet’s Latin Jazz Experience Trio comes to light.

New tunes, new energy with a more intimate sound gives the group a special touch and a new direction. All compositions are still Hamlet originals. The repertoire passes through rhythms between folklore and tradition of South America (primarily Colombia, Brazil and Cuba …) with a personal perspective made out of a mixture of energetic rhythms and inspired melodies.

They just finished recording their latest album “SUSURROS”, the third as a Hamlet’s Latin Jazz Experience and the first as a trio project. The final result is an enjoyable, reflective and evocative music but vibrant and energetic at the same time. The new album will released by summer 2022 under the same company FREIAUDIO RECORDS.

Eight tunes, mostly written in the last two years, inspired pieces with stories and anecdotes. For example the tune DOGE, was written straight away the day after seeing a documentary on the Italian classical composer Giacomo Puccini.

SUAVE CUCHICHEO, it means sweet whisper, tells about Hamlet’s feeling towards his distant country (Colombia) that he hears coming to his ear in theform of a whisper. SOCRATES, Hamlet has always had a special admiration for this Brazilian footballer. Not only for his sport qualities but also for his human ones. There are two other “dedicated” pieces on the album, PASEANDO CON BILL, a tribute to the great American pianist Bill Evans, and HEY BRO!, written about 30 years ago for his brother the bassist Victor Fiorilli, inspired by a melodic phrase by Victor Bailey, Victor’s (brother) favorite bassist at the time.
CHORITO is a somewhat classical melody that has been running in Hamlet’s head for long, up to finalize it on a rhythm and arrangement like Brazilian Choro. CON CARINHO in the beginning it was a love ballad then transformed into its current up-tempo form in a mix of Afoxé, Samba and Songo. VIEJO ROMANCE, the idea was to write a piece for a classical female violinist, a Cuban friend. In themind there was the image of a love story set in a 19th centurie’s Cuba.
