Organic Earfood ist der Bandname und auch der Titel der CD einer außergewöhnlichen Formation . Drei bekannte, reife und erfahrene Jazzkünstler zelebrieren Jazz – experimentierfreudig, groovy, offen und auf höchstem, künstlerischen Niveau.

Organic Earfood sind die kanadische Jazzlegende Bernie Senensky, organ, der in Brooklyn lebende und mit renomierteste, deutsche Vibraphonist Stefan Bauer und einer der bekanntesten Drummer in NRW, Peter Baumgärtner. Diese 3 Jazzkünstler verfügen über einen großen Schatz musikalischer Fähigkeiten, die sich in dieser speziellen Besetzung einzigartig entfalten.

Bernie Senensky ist eine kanadische Pianisten- und Organistenlegende. Als Haupteinfluesse nennt er Bud Powell, McCoy Tyner, Keith Jarrett und Herbie Hancock. Er ist der “Number one” Begleitpianist fuer beruehmte amerikanische Gastmusiker, die fuer Wochenengagements in etablierte Clubs wie das “Montreal Bistro”, im “Top ‘o the Senator” oder ins „The Jazz Bistro“ eingeladen werden. Drummer Elvin Jones sagte über Senensky: „Einer der besten Pianisten, mit denen ich im Laufe meiner Karriere gespielt habe.“ Bill Evans meinte: „Ich könnte einfach nur dasitzen und ihm den ganzen Tag zuhören.“ Obschon Bernie Senensky im wesentlichen ein mit allen Wassern gewaschener, moderner Be-bop Pianist und Organist ist hat er auch eine freiere, post-Coltrane Seite die in seiner Arbeit mit Pharoh Sanders, mit Rashied Ali und vor allem mit dem Gitarristen Tisziji Munoz zur Geltung kommt.

Vibraphonist Stefan Bauer, ursprünglich aus dem Ruhrgebiet, seit vielen Jahren jedoch in Brooklyn, NY, hat viele Jahre in der Geburtsstadt Bernie Senenskys gelebt: Winnipeg, Manitoba/Canada. Aus einem Wochenengagement mit Senensky and Bauer im damals legendären Toronto Jazzclub „George’s Spaghetti House“ ging ein Quartett (mit Bassist Jim Vivian und Drummer Barry Romberg) hervor, das ab 1993 häufig in vielen Clubs vor allem in Toronto zu hören war und eine Art ‘Kultbandstatus’ erlangte. Diese Zusammenarbeit kulminierte in einer Tour durch ganz Kanada 1996, und einem Konzert und einer anschliessenden CD Aufnahme mit dem Trompeter Kenny Wheeler als Gast. Die CD „Coast to coast“, erschienen unter Bauers Namen und aufgenommen im CBC Studio Winnipeg, in dem u.a. auch Oscar Peterson und Lenny Breau Jahrzehnte vorher gespielt hatten, erhielt hervorragende Besprechungen sowohl in der kanadischen als auch der amerikanischen Presse für ihre vielfältige Musik und für ihren hervorragenden Sound.

Dieses Trio wird abgerundet durch den erfahrenen und inspirierten Drummer Peter Baumgärtner, der für Silvia Droste, Jack van Poll, John Goldsby, Lydia van Dam, Matthias Nadolny, Jörg Siebenhaar, Konstantin Wienstroer, Klaus Osterloh, Martin Wind, John Marshall, Cécile Verny, Peter Weniger, Fay Victor, den Sultans of Swing, Norbert Gottschalk, Martin Sasse, Henning Gailing, Greetje Kauffeld, Rolf Römer, Brenda Boykin, Gerd Dudek, u.v.a. getrommelt hat. Zusätzlich kann Baumgärtner auf eine parallele Karriere als Theatermusiker (voraus- und) zurückblicken, u.a. auf Engagements im Düsseldorfer „Kommödchen“ mit Lore Lorentz, Thomas Freitag, Harald Schmidt, Michael Quast, aber auch im Tigerpalast Frankfurt, im Schillertheater NRW und am Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. Sein organisatorisches Talent hat er in die Etablierung seiner seit mehr als zwei Jahrzehnten europaweit bekannten “Hildener Jazztage” fliessen lassen.
